An invitation to celebrate your child's achievements - October 10th 2015

Dear Parents

When our term started in August, I shared that we have adopted SPCA as our charity partner and we have incorporated a Charity element into our curriculum for this term called the “gǔ tou”(dog bone) project. Over the first 8 weeks of this term, students garnered as many “gǔ tou” as they can by participating actively in activities, answering questions and quizzes based on what they have learnt in class.

We are encouraged by the enthusiastic response of the children and on October 10th, Little Mandarins together with SPCA would like to invite you, your family and friends to join us in celebrating the students’ achievement as well as commemorating World Animal Day. We have lined up an exciting afternoon with a presentation from SPCA, special awards to recognize the top 3 students who have garnered the most “gǔ tou”, Mandarin play group, face painting and animal balloon twisting. This will be a great opportunity to let your child to show you around the school.

Feel free to bring your friends so that they can find out more about Little Mandarins. For this special occasion, we will be offering your guest(s) a free trial class at little Mandarins. If your friend signs up for our program, as a token of our appreciation for your referral, your child will get a free session for the next term.

Call us (+65 64738377) to reserve your seats. Looking forward to seeing you at the event!

Best Regards,

Irene

LITTLE MANDARINS HOLIDAY CAMP (OCT – DEC 2015)

17 Aug

Dear Parents,

Our new term has just started and all of us at Little Mandarins are happy to see the children again after the summer break.

When we opened our doors at Loewen earlier this year, we introduced new modules that embrace our 5 learning ethos which are excellent guides to a child’s overall development: Play, Grow, Make, Care, Share

By associating language with each of them, we allow the child to acquire Mandarin as an integral part of the joy and wonder of growing up.

Last term, the children planted seedlings in class. They learnt about colours, flowers and leaves in Mandarin as they watched their plants blossom into beautiful flowers.

This new school term, students will learn about caring in Mandarin and we kick-off our CARE syllabus with Pets and Animals. We will be talking to the children not just about Pets but also about abandoned animals by introducing the S.P.C.A. and its mission.

In support of S.P.C.A., our adopted charity for this term, Little Mandarins will be incorporating a Charity Drive element into our curriculum. We are calling it the “gǔ tou” (dog bone) Project.

In regular-time class, students earn points by correctly answering contests, pop quizzes and exercises. This term, their points will be converted to “gǔ tou” and pinned up on the class scoreboard, which will be displayed in our Learning Space hallways.

Parents are strongly encouraged to support the children in garnering as many “gǔ tou” as possible by revising what they have learnt at home. Weekly update of the children’s scoreboards will be posted on our on Facebook so that you can see their progress! Do visit and like our facebook page (www.facebook.com/littlemandarins )!

At the end of the 8th week, the “gǔ tou” collections will be counted and a special reward given to the Top 3 students with the most “gǔ tou”. Little Mandarins is pledging $0.20 (20cents) for each “gǔ tou” to the S.P.C.A. The friendly competition coupled with the good cause behind it will provide students with the added motivation to excel in this module( in learning Mandarin).

On 10 October 2015, we will celebrate the children’s achievements with a special event to commemorate World Animal Day. All students, parents, family and friends are invited. Among other fun activities, the S.P.C.A. will be on hand to talk about their work and to run an interactive children’s education session.
More information for our 10 October 2105 event will be shared with you closer to the date, do save this date in your schedule to join us.

Looking forward to an exciting new term and lots of fun learning!

Best Regards,

Irene
